2025 Pohang International Fireworks Festival Dates & Travel Tips
Looking to experience one of Korea’s most spectacular summer festivals? Head to Pohang, a dynamic coastal city located on Korea’s southeastern coast, known as the “City of Fire and Light.” This year marks the 21st edition of the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, taking place from June 20 to June 22, 2025 at Hyeongsangang Sports Park, a riverside venue just 20 minutes from Pohang Station by taxi. The festival's highlight, the Grand Fireworks Show, will light up the skies on Saturday, June 21.
Started in 2004 as a fireworks event to celebrate Pohang Citizens’ Day, the festival has grown into a major cultural tourism festival designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Its themes—fire representing the city’s steel industry, and light symbolizing hope and innovation—make it a truly meaningful experience.
This year is even more special, as an additional autumn edition of the festival will be held in celebration of the 2025 APEC Summit in nearby Gyeongju.
